Birthdays
I believe a person’s birthday is an opportunity to celebrate the existence of that person in your life. It gives you the perfect chance to go out of your way to show that person that you care about them. We live in a very self-focused world and birthdays are an obvious freebie to put a smile on the face of someone else.
So in straight forward terms, giving a gift doesn’t haven’t to be an expensive or tiring ordeal, it is just another way of showing you care. And as for the card, generally speaking, a “dear so and so, happy birthday, from so and so” is pretty dry. Rather I find this the perfect opportunity to tell this person what they mean to you. And of course any sort of planned celebration is always wonderful.
I do find it a shame however that birthdays are a source of such disappointment. We hope that our friends and family will remember it, especially those friends that are very close to us, but in the end it generally turns out that quite a few people forget, which in this day and age is pretty shocking considering that we have so many ways electronically of setting reminders. And many those that do not forget do not put much effort in.
Why write this post now? My 25th Birthday is on Thursday. Personally I feel that it reminds me to look back on all the wonderful experiences that life has afforded me in the past and look forward to the many experiences I will have as I move towards the future

Happy, Happy Birthday young man
25 years is a milestone. How does it feel to have lived a quarter of a century? When I was that age, many moons ago, is when I finally felt like an adult and I owned the world!
Thanks for the eprops.
My husbands birthday Is today too. Wishing you a very Happy 25th Birthday!!
If I were asked for advice to send back in time to myself at your age, it would go something like this:
don't be so spontaneous with spending money - save and invest wisely
don't spend so much time internal - do things with other people, particularly your wife and kids
spend more time figuring out the most important things in your life, and focus there.
And now for something completely different - are you aware of any peculiarities with your xanga account? Twice this week I've gotten notes indicating that you'd left a comment on my page, but when I look there, no comment from you is seen.
