Church:
This past Sunday we went to a Lutheran Church. My main criticism I came away with was the absence of the Bible. I have been noticing that a lot of churches simply do not use it. They either use a book with pre chosen passages from the bible for each Sunday or they print them out in the bulletins to follow along with during the service…however this removes the Bible from the church…I would think it would be one of the main pursuits of a church to get people accustomed to seeing the bible, and becoming comfortable in using it, holding it, navigating it, and actually reading from it. This way it isn’t a foreign object but something they feel comfortable using even outside a church service.
Work:
I went on a multi-agency inspection of bars the other week. If a owner of a bar/club/store applies for a liquor license they consent to random inspections. The NYPD, FDNY, Building and Health Departments, etc. will inspect for different violations and if severe enough may shut down the premises.
We first went to a Hookah bar and shut it down because there were several violations. Then we went to a Goth Bar, a Karaoke Bar, and also Lucky Chengs, where the waitresses are really men dressed as woman and there was a bachelorette party with male dancers and a cake shaped as a penis.
