On Saturday night I went decided to have Taco Bell. I didn’t think I ordered an excessive amount of food. I ordered I believe a Soft Beef Taco, a Beef Burrito Supreme, and a Nachos Bell Grande (a portion of which I shared with my girlfriend). Surprisingly these three items totaled 1,430 Calories, 71 Grams of Fat, 3,250 mg of Sodium, and 153 Carbohydrates. Not surprisingly however was the upset stomach I had the following day. I have come to the conclusion that since I have been living on a relatively healthy diet, these cheat days I have that comprise of fast food and/or food from franchised restaurants no longer agree with my stomach. I am actually coming to the realization that it may be time to give up fast food almost completely. While on some level such a decision saddens me, ultimately it is much healthier, and lighter on my wallet.
While on the topic of my wallet, this brings me to a second realization. I used to be an avid moviegoer, but in the past six months or so, I’ve only seen perhaps four movies. I used to see only the matinee showings, but due to my current schedule, the last few movies I have seen have been during the evening showings. During my last few movie theater visits, I have only reaffirmed my belief that it is simply not worth paying six to ten dollars per ticket to see a movie that I can own for twelve dollars a year later or simply watch on cable television. Not to mention the simply unreasonable cost of food at the theater. Activities and products I once gladly spent money on now appear to me to be nothing more than a superfluous extravagance.
On another note, I am basically missing an entire week of school due to tonsillitis. I am running a slight fever of approximately 101.5 and just cannot seem to stop coughing…and sleeping. The doctor has proscribed for me antibiotics, so hopefully I shall be better soon.
